Then the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe, while her maidens walked along by the riverside. When she saw the basket[a] among the reeds, she sent her handmaiden to fetch it. When she opened it, she saw the child—a baby boy crying! She had compassion on him and said, “This is one of the Hebrew children.”
